Tidal and wave energy installations to develop the production of marine renewable energies
Responding to the climate emergency is our ambition
There is global awareness around carbon neutrality, energy transition, and environmental protection…
Interreg MRE Caribbean goal is to speed up the production of green electricity by developing future-oriented projects in concerned territories.
Greening electricity production to break away from fossil fuel dependence
The MRE project is set in a context of strong dependence of Caribbean islands on fossil fuels, where more than 93% of the energy needs of the Caribbean Community come from oil.
Despite a strong and varied potential for renewable energy development (solar, wind, geothermal, hydraulic, marine power, and bioenergy), the share of electricity from renewable sources remains low in these territories.
Strengthening international cooperation between East Caribbean states
An unprecedented cooperation that brings together 11 eligible territories:
Guadeloupe, Martinique, Antigua & Barbuda, Anguilla, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, and the British Virgin Islands.
Inter-island integrated cooperation will thus be strengthened through the pooling and optimization of human, technical, and academic resources as well as the valorization of the assets that each island owns.
Unite all stakeholders around a project for the future
Interreg MRE Caribbean is built on the association of all stakeholders in each concerned territory through the creation of local and participatory project companies.
93% of the energy needs of the Caribbean Community come from oil. We can move forward.
Let’s meet up in real life to discuss the project.
